Today(Feb 2017) was the end of a 2 day workshop on as the title says, using Art with Grief and Loss processing. What I appreciated was the ability to bring my own connection to this topic and then work on that in the practical applications. Art can be so powerful and a wonderful tool to tap into the conscious or unconscious. It can bring peace and it can bring turmoil but at least if nothing else it can give things a voice that may not have had one before. Here is my writing....
Loss...
Mourning of something no longer there, no longer living, no longer present in life or in this realm or place. Heart breaking, tearing, ripping as if stolen by many greedy hands on fire. The breath of ones essence being pulled out without your consent, without thought to how you will survive its absence. Loss sucks, sucks out the joy and happiness you took for granted that would sustain you and bring light to each day and laughter to your lips. Eye lids close not in thanks but in despair as if they may never open again, the closing of which keeps you in the dark slumber of the love gone away. There is no right way to go or find your way out of or away from loss, no book can guide you nor path to lead you. You take one step in a direction and if you feel yourself sinking in quicksand you may realize you are going the wrong way but sometimes loss has reduced your ability to sense, to feel slight shifts and you just sink, helplessly into another murky death of someone else's making and you close your eyes that never really saw in the first place and wait for the living to end for there must be peace in death.
